Budget (including currency): -

Region: Europe, everything is available

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, VR, 3D, Rendering videos, Encoding 20+ videos / day (Handbrake)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I currently use a 3950x, 64gb ram + 3090 Asus Strix

The GPU is quite big.

I am looking to upgrade to the 9800x3D that releases

OR
9950X (Which one would be best in here?)

I will not upgrade my GPU as I don't need to upgrade it but the case must be able to fit the 3090 Strix (It's quite big).

Looking for good high-spec ram, possibly 128gb to assist me in my daily encoding work.

I probably want a ATX board, I am unsure,
My current PC has never been moved so

I am bad at specs and what parts to get,

Could someone with this in mind provide me what products I should get in parts so I don't buy something incorrectly?
(I believe with my current build a lot of people pointed out that my RAM was not optimal for my CPU) and so on

No GPU needed, already have one!

I'd just wait for the 9950x3D. Its going to be a proper halo product this or next year since there's no reason for AMD not to put 3D v-cache on both CCDs. So, no more weird spill over issues negating the advantage of 3D v-cache.

We're doing it like this (Even if it's quite high end specs that I give down to family)

I have the high end because it helps my daily work of encoding videos for 15 hours a day

When I upgrade, I simply just give my old computer down in the family tree,

Then their computer gets gifted down in family tree as well

We found it's just way less hassle than selling parts / whole computer and always keep everything mostly fresh (3950x is a few years now but still more than enough for many)

I'd guess it's quite a while until 9950x3D releases considering 9800x3D releases today?

It was like a month the last time. Last generation, they released the 7950x3D and 7900x3D first likely to capture as many halo product customers as possible since the 7800x3D was the real halo product in most cases for gaming.

I suspect they'll announce and quickly release the R9 versions within the next two months, after they captured as many potential 9800x3D buyers for holiday season. The 9950x3D won't have the same problems as the 7950x3D since its almost certain to have both CCDs using 3D v-cache.
