Incredibly helpful,

If he was willing to drop significantly from the $1000 price point, IE: $800, would it still be worth pursuing the aforementioned AMD setup?

Well, that depends, if you value more performance and newer platform.

Or if you value not spending too much.

The Ryzen system is on a newer platform, where you have the option of swapping to 5700x3D later.

The 11400f isn't that much slower than 5600, so there's some performance/CAD for 11400F.

Hard to tell if the motherboard will handle 11700 i7, maybe in gaming, maybe barely.

The choice really comes down to the cost/platform/convenience.

Budget (including currency): ~$1000 CAD

Country: Canada, BC, Vancouver Island

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080p gaming,  audio recording for social media

Other details 75hz ASUS monitor, have peripherals including mic/mouse/keyboard already

Hello friends,

I'm considering purchasing a second hand PC off of Facebook Marketplace, appears to be a reputable seller

My current specs are:

CPU: i5 3570k @ 3.4ghz

PSU: 450w Corsair

MB: ASRock Z77 Extreme4

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960

RAM: 16gb

Storage: Samsung SSD 860 evo 500gb

PC in question is:
ROG STRIX G10CES

CPU: Intel 11th gen i5-11400f

GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 3060

RAM: 16GB

He's asking for $1,000.00CAD, and is flexible on price.

Said he purchased 1-year ago from BestBuy as a prebuilt.

Thank you in advance

Looks decent for 1000CAD, though I'd look for details on other parts if possible, PSU might be barebones (and that can be ok at times), but what about HDD/SSD, Motherboard, cooling?

Do you need Nvidia GPU for your tasks/games?

Not necessarily,

I’ve a history of using Nvidia GPUs

660ti, 960, 970..

Familiar with them, and looks like stock cooler!

Indeed, stock would be able to draw 11400F, my main concern is value here, you could get 5600 Ryzen system, perhaps even 12th gen Intel system.

they offer 11th gen midrange for 1000CAD, you can get 1 gen later AMD system, for less:

A lot to think about for certain.

If he was to drop significantly below the $1000 mark do you think it’s worth considering still?

I’ll see where he’s at cost wise, if he drops significantly below the $1000 mark it would be hard not to consider it the best option, however if I’m prepared to spend $1000 anyway… then may as well go with newest option / value for dollar.

Podkall, you have been extremely helpful. I thank you, friend.

5600(x) + 6800(xt) + 32gb 3200c16

even 800cad is pretty pathetic for that spec when you consider the parts you can get used and new at a similar price (albiet probably 6700xt not 6800 if you wanna hit 800cad which will annihilate the 3060 and beat the 3070)

the used prices (cpu gpu) are just assumptions for what they go for so correct me if im wrong on those
