I've been having this problem sense switching to AM5. My PC refuses to "wake" from sleep mode, like the lights and everything comes on but it won't display anything or post back into windows. I've tried updating my BIOS, changing my power settings, and even went into my BIOS, and setting it to wake per the BIOS settings allowing me to use my mouse/ keyboard to "wake" it. Before doing that I couldn't even wake it with my mouse nor keyboard, I had to press the power button to do it. I'm not sure exactly what can cause this, as I've never had nor seen this problem so I would greatly appreciate any help.

Specs:

OS: Windows 11 64 bit, Version 23H2, Build 22631.4317.

MOBO: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI.

BIOS Version: E7D75AMS.1K0, build date 10/08/2024

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X.

GPU: PNY XLR8 RTX 4070.

PSU: NZXT C750 Gold.

Storage: Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 2TB, WD Blue SN570 1TB, WD Black SN770 2TB, Samsung 990 PRO w/ heatsink 2TB. Both of the 2TB SSD's are in a RAID0 config, the problem was consistent before doing so.

RAM: Kingston Fury 32GB 4800mt/s, can't run XMP.

I would make sure your bios is updated and any chipset drivers. I've ran into this a lot on windows 11 but there is never a single fix.

See i just did, yesterday, before posting this I updated my BIOS to the newest non beta one, It still wont wake. Something I forgot to mention though is when turning it on from sleep mode it displays the CPU and DRAM debug led on my mobo. It also displays the same LED's when I try to enable any of the XMP modes.

I guess there's also a possibly of a faulty motherboard. I did find a discussion on MSI that may help. His solution was to downgraded BIOS to 7D75v17. Windows sleep mode doesn´t work with MSI B650 Tomahawk | MSI Global English Forum

Don't go back to Windows 10, that is going end of life soon.  I know myself I have a 5800X on a X570 and it has the same sleep problem.  If it goes to sleep for just a couple hours it will wake up, but if i leave it for 4+ hours it won't wake up and i have to physically switch the power off at the PSU.   I just turn off sleep mode.. heh.. not the most helpful solution.

If you really want sleep to work you can try what @lolomid suggests.

Also update all the things associated with your motherboard from MSI, HAL, Chipset, WIFI, bluetooth, audio, nic, etc..

Can also try from AMD directly https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-7000-series/amd-ryzen-5-7600X.html

actually... no it doesn't? (only kind of)

you also seem to not understand the purpose of installing windows 10... if it fixes it we know its not hardware... it takes... 10-20 minutes tops to install?  (in my experience)

actually,  now that i think about it it's actually the best and easiest course of action to install windows 10, tyvm. ~

actually good advice... i always forget people probably have fast startup turned on...

but if that doesn't help it's time to install a proper OS: Linux Windows 10!  🙂

I have nothing for troubleshooting my power, and Fast Startup is one of the first things i always disable. I've tried going to back to windows 10 and still the same thing happens, it doesn't matter if it just went into sleep mode or if its been in sleep mode for hours it wont wake. I presume that its a hardware issue considering both my CPU and DRAM De-bug LED's come on when its trying to post from sleep mode. It worked fine until i switched to AM5, the only things I had changed when the problem started was CPU, MOBO, and RAM everything else including the build of my OS stayed the same.

I have the exact same issue, but I have the b650i with 7800x3D. 64gb ddr5 expo 6000mhz and the only solution after the random wake up from sleep that does not work is to press the reset button. I just changed from 32gb of ram (2x16) to (2x32) and it happens with both sets.

I've found so many threads with this exact problem, I does not matter what version of BIOS you have.  I am trying with MCR and Power down mode disabled now, let's see how that goes.

This was the first thing I did after I tried turning it on the first time with my keyboard and it didn't work. Though my mobo isn't really a cheap one, I did buy it like 2 months after it launched so its possible that its just a issue with the power delivery on my mobo. I believe poor power delivery to be the reason why I can't use EXPO either, as no mater what I do to my ram, my pc wont properly restart and tends to crash from any and everything if I go over the preset voltage of the ram.
