Hi, I have an Asus ROG flow x13 gv301, I've loved the laptop, it's been great.

My kid spilled milk on it the other day, like a whole glass, and I think it sat overnight, at least for a couple hours.

I took the back off, disconnected the battery and then started disassembly and cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol, I got everything cleaned up pretty well but in the process I broke the flex cable that connects the power button to the motherboard, I was trying to clean under the motherboard, from the bottom, without completely disassembling it and tore the flex cable.

I never took the heat pipes off the CPU or GPU, I did clean under and around the fans though. I plugged it in and turned it on, it booted immediately into windows, I couldn't use my fingerprint because that's the power button but I put in my pin and got into windows fine. Everything seemed great. Other than the power button.

But then it turned off and, while I had it plugged in it continued this cycle, turning on, for about 2 minutes and then turning off. I ordered a power button and put it in today, the power button works now, great, but it still turns off after about 2 minutes. If it's not plugged in it just turns off but if it's plugged in it starts back up again. This happens whether I'm in windows, or in the bios, it has no storage in it at the moment so bios is the only option right this minute and it still turns off after about 2 minutes, the bios does tell me that the CPU is at 103°c which, seems high for sure but doesn't really sound "all the liquid metal is gone" high to me and it doesn't get hotter before shutting down, or seemingly ever say anything other than 103.

So the crux of the issue, I can get a used mobo from eBay for 400, the question is, do I do that or do I cut my losses and start saving to buy a new laptop?

Or maybe there are other things I could try in between, I'm guessing the power supply is part of the mobo based on not seeing anything else inside, I'm fairly handy and I can solder wires or could probably manage soldering some big components on a super simple board but I'm definitely not competent enough to be checking or soldering tiny components on a laptop mobo, there's definitely some signs of corrosion so I mean, if anything I'm kinda surprised it turns on and boots up at all.
