I was looking for a way to modifying the windows ui, and I came across this

https://mhoefs.eu/software_uxtheme.php?lang=en

There's tons of projects that do make use of it, but I couldn't find nowhere does actually show what kind of modification does the program do... Any help?

Or any other unofficial (as it looks that official options are limited) options that are more documented? That aren't just some fancy wallpapers/windgets as with rainmeter. I'd like to change system components as with the start window

if it works the same was as whatever theme patcher there was back in the vista days, essentially what it does is modify some windows explorer components to essentially add more hooks for customization.

downside of this (over stuff like startallback type of implementations that override in runtime) is that it is highly sensitive to windows update accidentially replacing the patched files, breaking your customization in the process.

Yeah, but exactly what?

I was mostly looking for a way to customize sw power buttons that are present in the start menu, so when pressing shut down it doesn't actually fully shut down the pc, but put it either in sleep or hybernation, while retain the shut down icon

From windows docs it seems that you can hide buttons, which I don't want to, untill w7 it was possible through some registry edit, but now it's not anymore possible, so I was looking for some ui customization...

Although always from windows docs the sw button seem to call some drivers to do the actions, but how seens to be undocumented, at least I couldn't find anything
