Stuck, computer will not start when I put in a stick of RAM with advertised speeds above 2133Mhz.

Hi all.

I'm new here, looking for some help with an issue that the solution to has been eluding me for weeks.

New Hardware:

Motherboard: Asus WS X299 Pro.

CPU: Intel i9-9980XE overclocked to 4.5Ghz (EZmode).

CPU Cooler: Scyth Ninja 5 Rev B.

RAM: HyperX Fury @2666Mhz 64GB(8x8GB).

Graphics Card: nVidia 4070 ti Super.

PSU: NZXT C1000 Gold.

2x1TB NVMe(1 is C:)  --  Motherboard.

3x2TB NVMe  --  Cheap AliExpress x16 PCIe to x4 M.2 - 4 slots I have to use 2 of them only slot 1 and 3 work on them with this motherboard, need to replace these 2 cards with below card.

2x4TB NVMe, 2x8TB NVMe  --  Asus Hyper m.2 x16 Card V2 Gen 3 (NO RAID).

Old Hardware:

Motherboard: Evga X299 FTWK.

CPU: Intel i9-7900X not overclocked at all.

CPU Cooler: Scyth Ninja 5 Rev A.

RAM: HyperX Fury @2133Mhz 32GB(4x8GB).

Graphics Card: nVidia 2070 Super.

PSU: Cooler Master 850w Gold.

2x(x16 PCIe to x4 PCIe M.2 single adaptor).

2x1TB NVMe(1 is C:)  --  Motherboard.

2x2TB NVMe  --  Cheaper AliExpress x16 PCIe to x4 M.2 - 1 slot.

1x2TB HDD.

1x10TB HDD.

1x240GB SSD.

Old Gaming Hardware: (For testing)

Motherboard: MSI M7 Gaming.

CPU: Intel i7-6700K not overclocked.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master AIO 120mm (It's old I dont remember what one)

RAM: HyperX Fury @2133Mhz 32GB(4x8GB).

Graphics Card: 2x AMD R9-390 (I can get a locked 30FPS in GTA 5 Online, woo!).

PSU: Antec 850w Bronze.

1x1TB NVMe(C:)  --  Motherboard.

1x3TB HDD.

3x2TB HDD.

1x10TB HDD.

1x240GB SSD.

Ok to the point.

My issue is that when I put the new sticks of RAM 8x8GB @2666Mhz into either of the X299 motherboards, in any combination or any amount of them, the computers will not post, the new motherboard is a second and the codes don't display on the code display, it was cheap, the old motherboard gave a code relating to the RAM, I cannot recall off hand what the actual code was.

I have tested the 8x8GB @2666Mhz RAM in evey slot and in every combination on the Old Gaming Hardware so I know they all work in any combination of 1 at a time, 2 at a time, 3 at a time and 4 at a time.

Both X299 computers work and post every time when using the 4x8GB @2133Mhz, I use the 4 slots the manuals recommended for 4 sticks, with all 4 sticks showing in the BIOS.

If I put the 4x8GB @2133Mhz in the recommended slots as above but then populate the 4 other slots with 4 of the 8x8GB @2666Mhz, both the X299 computers post, but with only the very first stick @2133Mhz showing up in the BIOS, there are no other sticks showing up anywhere in the BIOS that I can see.

I have tried booting up with 4x8GB @2133Mhz and turning on XMP in the BIOS and on the physical switch on the motherboard, both together, each separetly, every way I could think of. But I just cannot get the system to boot with all or any combination of the 8x8GB @2666Mhz (not using any of the 4x8GB @2133Mhz), again if I populate it with all the old and half the new sticks it only shows the first stick in the BIOS.

RAM was tested with each Graphics Card to eleminate the Graphics Card as a factor.

I have been googling this for the past few weeks with no success at all, there are a number of people running RAM at 2666Mhz on the X299 platform.

I bought the i9-7900X from SEC on eBay after watching the video about it on LTT on Youtube and liked the platform so I have stick with it, I also can't afford to upgrade any further.

I have tried to explain things as well as I can, I am Autistic and have difficulty communicating.

My TimeZone is GMT.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help that you can provide.

Joxer.

Thats normal. You are on a first gen ddr4 board and x299 tended to not run past 2133mhz beyond 4 sticks. Just gettibg 4 sticks to run at over 2400mhz was already not easy.

Also keep in min that the 9980xe is NOT 9th gen intel architecture but still skylake-x aka what your 6700 ran on. Its also why people were mad about x299 abandonment :p. Basically same cpu's over and over but for more money.

The ONLY way people managed to get stuf going SOMETIMES is by manuall putting in the values of the ram and tweaking it. So you can try that but well good luck and expect failiure!

Else not much to do. 2133mhz isnt bad here keep in mind you're in quad channel 😛

@jaslion I would love to be running quad channel, but I can only run the 4 sticks with the advertised clock speed of 2133Ghz, and I would be happy running 64GB at 2133Mhz. But I can't get the system to post with any of the sticks with an advertised speed above 2133Mhz. I need more RAM but it doesn't need to be any faster.
