What is the best way to remove laptop battery from the battery tray?

Hi, I am trying to replace the battery in my Aero 15, but the old battery is hard glued to a metal battery tray. I tried brute forcing it off, but no success. I am now thinking either using a heat gun to loosen the glue or use acetone to remove the glue, but I am not sure how safe these options are to use on a Lithium battery. Any suggestions on how to safely remove the battery from its tray? Also, what would be a good replacement adhesive if the old one isn't sticky anymore after the removal process?

I went through two tutorials now and none spoke about glue.

Are you sure ?

Yes, Aero 15 uses two different models of batteries for some reason, and the one I have is the more obscured model and has the battery secured in a metal tray like this.

So I bet there should be a way to buy that trayed battery.

That picture is helpful.

Or probably you can do without the tray. Some not too strong double face tape...

Thin double-sided tape would be fine to replace the glue, i agree 100%.

I usually go with a thin metal strip that I insert between the tray and the battery. Be sure not to puncture the battery and it never hurt to be close to a door to throw the battery outside if an accident happens.

The metal strip should have rounded edges and be rigid enough so that you can push it slowly without bending it. You can use some heat to help soften the glue, but be cautious. Use a hair dryer (and no open flames).

Hope that helps.

You can also use IPA to dissolve glue , should be much easier to remove it from the tray

but why bother at all with the tray ? even Gigabyte does without

I’m not debating if he supposed to use the tray or not, I just simply answered the question how to do it haha

What's IPA beside India Pale Ale ? and won't it also dissolve the battery wrap ?

I doubt IPA dissolves (or weakens) glue, you're positive ?

Yes I’m positive, I did use it before to remove the batteries and just get rid of glue in general. Of course I’m talking about using small amounts of IPA , not just dropping battery in IPA bath.

Even on iFixit website they say it’s alright to use
