PC Freezes with Audio and Cursor Active on Windows 11

TrulyVibing

As the title says, my PC is freezing, but I can still hear audio and see the mouse cursor moving. This happens when I play Valorant, whether I have Chrome or Discord open, or even when neither of them are running.

I've noticed that when the system clock freezes on Windows 11, if I try to ALT + TAB to another window or close the game, my PC freezes while "exiting" the game, but it never fully exits. During this freeze, I can still hear audio, like a video playing or a Discord call, and I can see my mouse cursor moving, but the PC remains frozen as Valorant attempts to close. Trying to open File Explorer or Task Manager doesn’t work either.

If I don't close Valorant and the time is frozen, I know that my next action, whether it's switching windows or closing the game, will freeze the PC entirely.

I hadn’t faced this issue until about a year and a half ago, and it’s been persistent since then.

The first thing I would try, is making sure all your drivers are up to date.
