PC crashing under both Windows and Linux

Lunar River

I've started to have some annoying issues with my mini PC that i've been running on Linux for almost a year without issue. maybe 1 out of every 5 times i try to put it to sleep it just freezes everything up, mouse and keyboard no longer work and i'm required to force shutdown (can't even get into TTY).

To go along with this, every now and again when it wakes up from a sleep state, same thing, freezes up and becomes entirely unresponsive. made sure to update the kernal and all installed components via the add/remove software. no luck.

So i thought it was maybe a Linux thing and booted into my windows partition, only to find similar problems, except they happen entirely at random unrelated to hybernation/sleep. It will freeze up for a few seconds at a time before working again if not locking up entirely. no BSoDs, no random shutdowns.

Thermals under both OS's are no issue at all, i've never seen it go above 70c outside of actual stress tests and that's only spikes, never sustained.

What is the most likely cause? i dont have any additional SODIMM ram sticks on hand just for testing purposes, I am learning more towards it being a hardware issue, but i want to eliminate anything else before spending anything as to not waste money.

PC: Beelink SER5 (mini PC)

CPU: R5 5560U

RAM 16GB Crucial SODIMM DDR4
