Event 153 "nvlddmkm" errors in Event Viewer, but no artifacts, crashes or blackscreens?

Got a weird situation involving my graphics card (RTX 4060ti 16GB). When I take a look at errors in the Event Viewer, I occasionally come across Event 153 nvlddmkm errors. The full details of a typical error is as follows:

Spoiler

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video3
Error occurred on GPUID: 700

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

The weird thing is, at the time these errors occur, absolutely nothing bad happened to my PC. No crashes, no driver timeouts, no blackscreens, no graphics artifacts either, it's all 100% stable normal operations. I literally only know an "error" occurred when I take a look at the Event Viewer. So what even is happening here?

That's a strange one. Usually nvlddmkm errors are accompanied by 'has stopped responding and successfully recovered' and you'll almost certainly know there's a problem as the screen goes blank. If you're lucky it comes back but a crash-to-desktop.

What are the specs of the rest of the system?

Do you have any OCs in place? (GPU and / or CPU) Maybe dial back to stock

Have you tried DDUing the drivers and reinstalling them.

Is you BIOS up-to-date?

Fresh Install of Windows rules out software issues although its a bit of a ball-ache if you need to backup loads of files and reinstall a tone of games or apps.

Check PSU cables are properly seated

Do you have another PSU? (poor power delivery is a common cause of GPU issues)

Do you have another PC you can plonk the 4060ti into and see if the event viewer throws any errors

If your Mobo is ATX r uATX, try another PCIe slot

Just a few relatively simple things to try before opening a can of worms.

Have you installed HWInfo to look at temps, power limits, clocks and loads during a GPU intensive workload?

not so strange, might be a bios issue (motherboard not gpu)

i had something similar "whea errors" hundreds per minute... but no issues whatsoever no crashes... and it always said "Nvidia device"...

years later i updated my bios and the errors just disappeared.

Exactly the same error 1-2 times per month but no crashes, no bsods or any problems.
RTX 4070 Super, Ryzen 7 7700 and B650 Gaming X. Build my pc 6 months ago.
I got the same error 1-2 times per month  when used my old pc with GTX 1650 Super, i7 4771 and G1 Sniper Z87. And again no crashes, bsods or other problems. I just like to check in event viewer.

Like I said, this "error" only shows up in the Event Viewer, with no other visible symptoms. Max CPU temps I get is 72C (while loading in an area in HZD), GPU maxes out at 62C, neither temps are particularly toasty.

There is a good chance that your system ram is not stable. It is the only time I have seen it.

I would check that out.

As @freeagent suggested, if its your RAM, disable XMP/DOCP/EXPO if its on and run you ram at stock speeds.

I may run Testmem or Memtest or whatever the name is to see if this could be a RAM instability issue. Strange that there's no BSODs, blackscreens or reboots the entire time though, if that's the case.

Another poster says update BIOS, good call, my current BIOS version P4.60 is dated from 2022 while the 4060ti was released in 2023.
