No problem, just want to help you understand how to make the best choice.

If you need both, and only have the budget for one, you need to decide what you need more, the storage or the speed.  But you can consider, a future upgrade when you have more budget to add another drive.  Maybe if you store lots of video a big HD could be an economic way to store big files and you a smaller and faster SSD as your scratch drive when you work on video/photo projects.

If you get a bigger drive now, how will not having a fast drive impact your workflow?  vs If you get a fast drive now, how will not having a big storage drive impact your workflow?

Hi.

I'm new to the pc building community and I've build my first pc and i chose a ssd that could get the job done.I use my pc for both editing and gaming. My cuurent ssd is a 1Tb M371 from msi and i have a 1Tb 2.5 inch ssd which is not fast. I wanted to buy a new ssd and im stuck between getting a fast 1Tb ssd like a 990 pro or getting a 2Tb ssd with decent speed like MSI M461. I have about $130 US and both storage and speed is important to me what should i do.

My current build:
Cpu: r5 7600
Gpu: RX 6900 xt

Motherboard: asus tuf b650m plus wifi
psu: mwe 700w bronze v2
Ram: corsair vengence 32gb ddr5 5600
Storage: M371 1Tb, WD green 2.5 1TB ssd

Depends on what you are storing on them.

Are they files that need high speed, or more storage?

This is like asking, if a truck or a motorcycle is best, without stating what kind of roads you are going to drive on or what you need to take with you.

The best part for your computer, depends on what you are using your computer for.

Isn't there any other options for 2TB besides that given MSI? Because something like Kingston KC3000 2TB costs here around 130 and is tad better.

MSI is QLC that means a lot less TBW reliably than TLC. QLC does of course not mean it would stop working very soon, but still is less reliable in long run.

I edit my posts more often than not

Do you frequently make huge file transfers ?

If not a "slow" NVme is not significantly slower than a "fast" one when loading games, editing etc (some percent difference only), so I'd go for the 2TB ssd

@TheBlack, if you're not in immediate need (and usually unless your drive failed you're not), I would suggest to wait until Black Friday and buy fast 2TB. Or even buy 4TB and sell old SSDs as managing three SSDs becomes a hassle fast - though that might be out of your budget even on Black Friday.
