Not exactly since landlines will still work in case of a power outage if we're talking about traditional landlines and not VoIP that most telecos are moving towards. Plus landlines allow you to have multiple handsets, WiFi calling is just limited to your one mobile device. 

 

WiFi calling is just a lifeline when you're in an area with bad cellular coverage.
