SO many conflicting opinions on for vr what's your take

so i have been vr gaming for a few years now first on the rift s and now on the quest 3

the biggest gripe i have is tracking(i know its cus the inside-out based) i have a habit of trying to grab and move behind myself

i want to move to a outside-in based system but looking at reviews it looks like world war 3 in the reviews and every one just get a quest 3 

i want to get in to body tracking / custom purpose built controllers like realistic gun controllers not just shells(which would be based off vive trackers due to there popo pin pads) but i really don't want to be trying to get a bunch of software mangled together

i want to settle with the index but i know its older and still $1K usd from steam

then i look and want to go with the vive pro 2 and people say yeah its got some of the best resolution but looking thru the lenses it goes to crap

i really can't come to a conclusion on what's right

Good buddy of mine who does full body tracking setup and manly does vrchat says the index is great but its older and resolution is holding it back

in the end all i want is

1. Good display but it doesnt need to be some super high res i just want good looks without needing the latest gpu(even tho im running rx6900xt)
2. Nice accurate tracking 
3. Kinda all in one software so i don't need multiple programs running
4. Decent audio for its size because i do like my sound and if i do external earbuds then i use my IEM's with a amp but find they tend to just get in the way of straps
5. budget ish cost looking at about $1500

what do you guys think

rn as i finish writing im leaning towards just getting a valve idex

its a increadibly robust well supported headset with a perfectly good 1440p 120hz display, still the best controllers on the market, great built in audio (open back tho so no isolation) and it supports every tracker on the market

Yea that’s why I was leaning towards it due to controllers and tracker support

Be aware that if you use it heavily a ton of users have managed to break them around the year mark as they are unfortunately not that sturdily built. It's why vr arcades that tried to use them went back to older more reliable headsets and most still use the htc vive or one of it's first gen other models.

 

An index 2 has been in the works for a while now so there may be more news sometime.

 

However in terms of experience on pc the index is BY FAR the best one. Not even close. Sony would have had a real chance if the pc link wasn't entire utter garbage.

Even the highest res ones like those 8k units still show the usual "low res" vr things. It's basically just imperfections of current way of doing it and it's up to the future for figuring out a new better technology around it. Sure higher res makes stuff better but it's not the final solution (probably).

 

 

 

So basically your option is a index or well not really anything else except going older and getting a older vive for the superior tracking and body tracking options.
