How To Save Youtube Videos and Songs On Laptop/IPhone?

paulyron

Is there a way to do this?  Such as be able to play youtube videos or songs on laptop and iphone offline?  So if you don't have wifi or data, you could play those videos and songs offline.

If you get youtube premium, that would work?  What are the other options?

Yes, you can use YouTube premium to download videos on PC. If you don't want to pay for YT premium there is a command line tool called yt-dlp which you can use to easily download and convert videos. However 3rd party downloaders do violate YouTube's tos, so use them at your own discretion.

You can use YouTube premium or third party video downloader tools from an internet search.

Although YouTube premium download feature works, I only used it to watch in YouTube native app, so I don't know if the downloaded file via Premium could be exported as mp4 or other extension format

Pretty much like Spotify case, you could download the song with premium but it's encrypted and the songs can only be played via Spotify native app

4K Video Downloader should works, but depending on some interpretation, it could be considered piracy or breaching YouTube's terms of service, so I suggest to be careful on that approach

NewPipe is my go-to app for this.

NewPipe is great, but it only works on android and it has to be sideloaded.

The thing is do these 3rd party software have malware or anything like that?  That is my concern with using something like this.
