What are the top 3 RX7800 xt and RTX 4070 SUPER cards?

Go to solution Solved by Bitter,

For the 7800XT I'd say either the Nitro+ or Red Devil would be the two top cards

in terms of what?  Performance, noise levels, thermals?

All of the above?

"Top" GPU don't mean much now, all GPU are binned and restricted so that "best" one (OC/watercooled) maybe have  +8% (max) better performance, but at much higher power so heat so noise as well (not if watercooled but those are much more expensive)... Plus they're usually near as expensive as the entry level models of the next better GPU, so it's a bit dumb to get them unless it's the absolute top tier cards (7900XTX/4080/4090)

So best choice is usually mid tier cards, with better cooling than entry level ones, but not that much more expensive. In your case get a 3 fans model and you'll be good

Im guessing he means manufacturers.
for AMD, XFX, PowerColor and Sapphire are the best.
For Nvidia, Gigabyte, MSI and PNY.

Depending on the model. They still have a few models that use the same PCB design that was cracking out on ampere cards.

Which they then refused to warranty.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Problem is I can't really recommend ASUS either, man asked for top 3, I wouldn't put asus on there for sure either. Comapred to ASUS, I haven't heard of Gigabyte being crappy, but that's just me.

Every company has had its stinkers and every company has had its great cards.

It should be on a card by card basis and not what company is best.

Personally I only buy Nvidia now'a'days ( Had a hd 5970 and R9 290 Trix from Sapphire back in the day )

And I find MSI to do what I want most in modern GPU's.  I also really like Palit!

Did you know that Palit is the largest GPU manufacturer in the world?

And hopefully they see this as an opportunity to shop based off product, not manufacturer.

That being said. I had a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R for my i7-950 back in the day and it worked really well.

But that was the last gigabyte product I have owned and I have never looked at them for any of my purchases since.

I started using their motherboards with a Z390i and have stuck with them for motherboards since, except for in my wife's build because the NZXT board fit the build better aesthetically. The Z390i was a great little board. Had all the IO I needed from it, and treated my 9900k well.

The Z690 I have now has some of the quirks of early 690 boards but nothing massively out of the ordinary.

My wife's computer actually was a smoking deal. She's got a Gigabyte Aero 3080 with a cracked pcb that I picked up for under $100 and fixed myself.

Spoiler

That was before the 3080. All things included I want to say with the 13700k we were into her rig ~$1200 including her flower decorations.

Fair honestly.
I bought a 7800xt today actually, from everyone that I've looked at, I liked the Sapphire nitro plus more. It's clean, built like a tank and to top it off, performs slightly better than other models. I don't mind an extra 50 cad upcharge.

I have used multiple Gigabyte boards for clients, especially the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX!  Its a great board and has had zero issues with them.

I like my ASUS motherboards even though they did mess up with the Ryzen 7000 X3D's etc etc. But all companies have had its issues.

Thats a very cool white build!  Very 'girly' 😄  I like it.

Oh hey, that's my board. I love it
Only real gripe I had with it, when i  flick the PSU on, aparently it likes to flash the RGB it has on the board. Gave me a big god damned scare, thought my PSU went.

Thats a great model and a damn good card, the 7800 XT is very fast!

Congrats 🙂

I like paying a little bit more for a bit ''higher end'' cards.

I suffer from misophonia and fan noise is a trigger.  So I usually go for a card with low noise levels.

My RTX 4080 Gaming X TRIO has served me well so far.

50 bucks in all honesty is not a lot in the end. If you plan on having the card for 5 years, what is 50 bucks over 5 years right?

This has gotten off topic. I can't find the usual reviews like from Hardware unboxed about which modle from which brand does what best. I want information on a model to model basis. Thanks

okay, thanks., But I have suddenly taken an interest in DLSS because I want to play at higher fps. So could you recommed a 4070 super model?

From what I've heard people prefer Asus Dual. I actually have that variant, but on a 3060TI. I'd say it's pretty good so far.

Well I mean there is FSR and XESS as well which are brand agnostic but I understand that DLSS is the best best and Nvidia exclusive. Personally I'd pick the card with the best value for it's hardware specs vs a specific brand for just one feature. *shrug* You get 4 more GB of VRAM with the 7800XT which in the future may be more important than DLSS especially if Nvidia version locks DLSS to GPU model and VRAM requirements continue to escalate exponentially.

The only thing I can say is AVOID GIGABYTE. The PCB cracking issue is well explained above, do not screw with that company you're gonna get burnt hard.

Other than that, buy whatever is cheapest. Nobody is good.

Im settling for the Asus Dual RX 7800xt because the brand is supposed to provide decent enough warranty service for us over here.
