Am I getting the correct amount of screen on time on my iPhone 13 Pro?

LagLord

My phone went from 100% (at 2 pm) to 1% (at 12:30 AM, next day).

If we add up all the screen on time during this period (screen rec attached), we get 338 minutes.

Mrwhosetheboss tested the iPhone 13 Pro battery, and got 497 minutes of screen on time.

Now, my phone is at 87% battery health, so 0.87 * 497 = 432.39 minutes.

Difference = 432 - 338 = 94 minutes.

Now obviously my phone was also on standby for a lot of this time, while he was continuously using his. So is this 94 minute difference accounted for by the time my phone was on standby?

Also to keep in mind is that his usage in this test is far heavier than how I used my phone

Or do I need to get my battery replaced?

There are a lot of factors for battery life like workload, screen brightness, modems used, and more.

Generally a new battery will help a bit, but if your not having issues I'd keep the battery for now.

Well, you have lost 13% of your battery's life, so there are some minor battery performance drops to be expected. Unless it doesn't get you trough the day anymore, I'd suggest just turning stuff off that you don't use. And I'm also guessing the home and lock screen usage is because you have always on display turned on? Maybe turn that off, should help a fair bit.

yeah that's what I'm asking. Given I have 87% battery health, is this the kind of battery life that is to be expected? Or am I getting lower than expected battery life for a 13 pro with 87% battery health?

Nah, 13 pro doesn't support always on display. I was messing around with my wallpaper settings today, which is why it shows up there.

Hold on, your screen recording says you had your phone on for 8 hours and 33 minutes, and 27 minutes with the screen off.
Why do you say you only got 338 minutes (about 5 hours and 40 minutes) ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's in the last 24 hours, not since the last time the phone was at 100% charge.

If your watch the screen recording, you'll see I tap the section for each hour since I took my phone off the charge at 2 PM when it was at 100%, until my phone was at 1% (12:30 AM, next day). I added up the screen on time for each of those individual hours, and got 338 minutes.

Okay, now look at the math again: you took your phone off charge at 2PM, and you got to 0% at around 12:30AM NEXT DAY, that means by 12:30, you've had your phone with you, from 100%, for the past 10 and a half hours. Of those, 8 and a half you were using your phone, and another half it was on stand-by. Do you get the math now?

I'll tell you the exact times. My phone was at 100% charge at 2 PM Thursday (exactly) when I took the charger outand it got to 1% charge at 12:22 AM Friday.

At 12:26 AM Friday, I recorded the screen rec posted here.

I think the 8h 33m (Screen On) that we see at the beginning of the video, refers to the screen-on-time between 12:26 AM  Thursday and 12:26 AM Friday, right?

Oh crap you're right. My bad.
But yeah, Dedayog's right, Instagram is a heavy battery drainer, check if Instagram has background usage, maybe that could be the culprit.

It does. I've turned that off now. Let's see if that changes anything. Thanks btw!
