Should I use more thermal paste?

By the looks of it, yet a little more 🙂

It should cover all of the CPU ( as much as you can )  when you have mounted the cooler with enough pressure.

 

Remember that the CPU cooler does not have enough mounting pressure by just putting it on top of the CPU.

You have to mount it better.

It WILL squeeze as you tighten down the cooler. If you haven't tightened the cooler: do that first, and see how the spread is.

You should clean off the existing compound (lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol) apply new compound (use the pattern suggested by the compound manufacturer) then mount and tighten down the cooler. 

 

You will know if you have used too much compound if more than a little bit is forced out the sides when the cooler is tightened.

 

You will know if you have not used enough compound if your temps are abnormally high.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
