Is it possible to change the graphics core of the GTX 750Ti for another?

XxK3V1NxX

For some time now (2 weeks) I had the silly idea of whether it was possible to change the graphics core of the GTX 750 Ti windforce and 2Gb of Vram, and put another one that works better.
Is it possible to do this or are there no better cores for that GPU?

this is my gpu GeForce® GTX 750 Ti OC Edition (GV-N75TOC2-2GI)

No, unfortunately not.

There have been a few cards that people have increased the memory but you can't change the core.

No, desafortunadamente no.

In the event that I want to increase the Vram memory to 4GB or 8 if possible, do I have to modify the drivers?

You would have to manually solder on more memory.

I dont want to be rude.. But if you have to question this, you probably don't have the tools and knowledge to do so.

Its complicated and only a handful of people have done this themselves.

Changing drivers won't make the card have more Vram.

haha no problem, I know how to do it but I don't have the tools.
I meant that if you put more Vram memory modules, in addition to that, would the Bios have to be modified? Or do you already recognize that you have 4-8 GB of video memory?

Mind asking me what your Goal even is? Just for the Fun of it?

If you expect any Games or so to run better, or to be able to run any modern Games...

GTX 750 is 10 years old, and was one of the lowest Low-End Cards back then. 10 Years go, you already had to make compromises in gaming.

Probably most modern iGPUs are better than this.

You could most likely spend 50 bucks for a used Card that's multiple times as fast as this one, which is a much better Value, than trying to solder more Vram on.

My objective is simple, I want to know if it can be increased by soldering Vram modules and if then the drivers have to be modified.
I don't expect it to work better, just that the video memory doesn't fill up so quickly when opening any game.

Given that in Argentina the price of GPUs is sky-high, it is easier to make some type of modification since for the moment the GPU works well for me but the Vram fills up instantly when running games and generates some inconveniences.

Theoretically its possible, assuming you have the knowledge and skills for SMD soldering/reworking, insight on exactly which VRAM IC's will be compatible, ability to modify the vBIOS and then flash it to the card.

You will have no guide to follow as no one would bother attempting this on a low end 10 year old GPU to begin as, regardless of what you think, it will not make the card any less problematic in games.

The "VRAM filling up" in 2024 isn't that cards problem.

you could technically upgrade lower end gpus to the fully unlocked 750ti or equivalent shown in this list (anything with <640 cores)

but since the 750ti is the fully unlocked version of that die you cant really do anything in terms of upgrade the gpu core unless nvidia for whatever reason used the same pinout for larger gpu chips which i doubt but you can confirm this for yourself if you desolder a couple cards and compare them

as for vram modding youll probably be able to get 4gb working with relative ease and drivers wise probably use the gtx 950m drivers, 8gb is also possible since the m10 grid is also 128 bit which means same vram chip count as the other gpus but getting the chips for it may or may not be expensive and god knows for driver support cause youll probably have to mod the drivers at that point since the grid doesnt have video out

ofc this is definitely not cost effective as a 30-40$ 4gb rx x70/x80 card will obliterate it considering those are equivalent to a 1060 but itd be a funny project anyways if you have the equipment and some spare scrap cards you wanna toy around with though id personally be more intrigued by the ddr3 cards see how far i can push the mem frequency on those with better chips cause those can come with known good ddr3 chips like 2gbit d die

So you know how to do a BGA reball but you're asking if you can replace the core with something else.....right....

Exactly, I had no idea if there was another core that shared the same socket

Thanks friend, I appreciate the information.
