First pic Build for Promotion

DredinL

Budget (including currency): 500-700.

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS2 (2h a week maybe), 98% Word and Powerpoint

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 240hz would be nice on 1280*960 lowest settings

hello,

i recently got my masters degree in mechanical engineering. In 3 months I will start my promotion. Through my master thesis I realized that my laptop is coming to an end. Its been really struggling with basic websites and a few open tabs. Now I need my first pc. Would rather stick to am4 to be honest, since am5 would be too much for what I need. I know nearly nothing about pcs. Only will play cs2 sometimes on lowest settings. Can you plz make me some recommendations systems for budget pcs? Plz no intel. I would really love an am system.

In the updated CS2 CPU benchmarks that GN did, the 5800X3D was one of the best CPUs in the test, so since you want to go AM4 I'd just get the 5700X3D (because of the price, unless the 5800X3D is just a bit more).

Something along these lines...

Good CPU for gaming and office work (which any can do).  Good 1080p GPU, so you can actually lift your resolution a little if you want.

Will be more than fine for years with your stated needs...

Thx for the build. Should I go for this mainboard or the Msi b550m pro vdh. Can get that cheaper for 80 euros here. And will probably get a 256gb card, since everything will be on my cloud i get from work (20TB). Would you recommend getting the rx7600 for 20 euros more?

why not buy a better laptop if youll only be gaming from time to time?

besides the ryzen 5 igpus on zen4 laptop cpus are already on par with rx 570/580 or gtx 1060 performancs so theyre actually half decent now

if youd like a pc theres only 2 sensible builds

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/2DgbFs

5600(x) based with a used 3080/6800xt

am4 just doesnt make sense if you arent going to max out your gpu at a low budget

used 5600(x) can be found at ~80€ but if they arent closer to 70€ that 98€ 5600 is somewhat compelling if you are lazy like i am =p

used 3080/6800xt wise you should be able to find em ~350€ but keep in mind that you can haggle prices down and good deals exist, you can also save abit of cash with the 6800 non xt as those should be <300€

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/jqFgRK

8600g based build at the middle or lower end of your budget

cooler is optional and can be added later anyways since the 8600g already comes with a stock cooler (wo cooler its more like 560€)

funnily enough you still have enough budget to grab a used 5700xt or 2060s/2070s if you really want to and cs2 is more cpu demanding than gpu demanding anyways

board and rams will not need any upgrading likely till the end of ddr5 as the hdv will handle an overclocked 7950x and that 6400c32 hynix a die based stick is 10000+ capable and aside from future amd apus i dont think cpus will neccesitate >8000 considering current gen intel tops out at ~8800 on the best imcs with ryzen cpus at ~8000 so its alot better than am4 in regards to not needing a new board and new rams for a cpu upgrade if needed alongside the much faster cpu perf

Sure, the 7600 is about the same as the 7600 or slightly faster in some areas.   Grab it.

You'll need a drive for cs2 unless you plan on playing it off the cloud?   Not what I would do,.
