PC Needs to Be Booted Twice to Work – Looking for Help

MrCreed

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue where my PC sometimes needs to be powered on twice to start properly. Recently, I upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. The problem didn’t happen right away, but after a week or two, it started occurring sporadically.

Here’s the issue: if I turn my PC off and on again within a short period, it boots normally. But if it’s been off for a while, the system powers on (the fans, RAM, and GPU lights all turn on), but the screen remains blank. To get it to work, I have to turn it off and back on, and then it boots up fine.

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel i7-14700K
  • RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36 Intel XMP iCUE
  • GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING Z TRIO 8GB
  • Motherboard: MSI Z790 GAMING PLUS WIFI
  • Windows 10 64-bit

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any suggestions on what could be causing this or how to troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Did you keep your old install?

This is a common issue when doing that where windows slowly starts fucking up more till stuff goes way wrong.

Does it go into bios immediatly when the drive is not connected?

No I do not have my old install, it was a fresh install of windows 10 to go along my new components upgrade. I would need to check as I have not unplugged the drives.
