One thing I forgot to check. Which kind of boot drive do you have ? If you still use an HDD, it may be normal to experience lag when objects are loading.

hey, im new here. heres the issue im facing, my cousin's pc has this issue where when objects load (specifically in fortnite) the game lags terribly and even after the objects have loaded there is a lot of stutter when you break objects along with random stutters and crashes. ive tried resetting the windows, updating windows, drivers and bios, lowering the power limit in msi afterburner (this reduced the crashes but theyre still there, also im not sure it does what i think it does) and changing the fan curves, reinstalled the gpu driver a bunch of times and its still the same.

but yeah the fortnite issue seems specific but i couldnt find anyone discussing the same issue, can you guys give me tips for pinpointing the issue or troubleshooting?

Thanks for the specs.

Which type of monitor is he using ? An rx580 was a good card but it's wasn't made for the high-end monitors we have today.

he's decided to swap out basically everything except the gpu (so build a new pc basically) how could i test the gpu to make sure it isnt the cause of the problems?

and is this a decent spec sheet:

rx580 8gb

ryzen 5 3600

maxsun b450m mobo

ddr4 2x 8gb ram 3600MHz

Be Quiet System Power 10 Bronze 650W

1080p should be good with an rx580 unless it is 200+ Hz or something crazy like that.

This is not the latest crazy fast hardware but it certainly can handle a lot of games without issues.

Using it in another computer is already a good test. You may also run a few benchmarks to make sure but playing games is probably the best test you can do.

Alright then thank you for your time. I'll be getting a GPU soon for my pc and I'll see if that or the new parts will have any different outcome and update this, before then if anyone has the solution to the Fortnite issue, reply because I couldn't find anyone talking about the same issue anywhere else

Could be bad luck or chipmunks, but there is currently a big non-optional update to Fortnite. (60 GBish). Maybe your issue will go away after updating ?

Anyway, you can't skip it.

Good luck !

Tried doing a furmark test and the psu decided to unalive itself so we got a decent one and the crashing stopped, also we repasted the GPU and the temps seem better, but it still has that issue in fortnite.

does anyone's fortnite *not* lag at this point? 😂

serious question,  every cpu/gpu review i see fortnite is always the odd man out with the lags and stutters even on  high end systems that have no issues with any other games lol...

*runs cyberpunk without any issues, rock solid frametimes*

*runs fortnite: yep it's fortnite xD*

you could try running at really low settings and like 480p maybe... otherwise fortnite will always struggle on this setup im afraid.
