creating a bootable windows iso from a folder in ubuntu

theyikes

HI! I'm not 100% sure I'm posting in the right area but I figured general discussions was close to it. Ok i have a problem. I'm currently running Kubuntu 24.04. Great os!! Anyway I'm having problem creating a bootable windows.iso file for use with VirtualBox. Allow me to explain. I have a legit Windows 10 iso file that i need to modify. I've mounted the file and used "cp -r " to copy the iso content to a folder on my desktop. This bit was easy but now here comes the issue. After trying genisoimage, mkisofs and xorriso i cannot manage to create an image that will boot with VirtualBOx. I've run the file command on the iso and it reports it as being bootable but no matter what i do I just am not able to boot from it. I've tried Qemu too but it just does nothing.

I'm beginning to doubt it can be done without resorting to wine and anyburn.

#can someone a little wiser than myself offer a solution?
