Access to a home (family) network using a work (Domain) machine

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, or if it's not all that hard to do but I'm having a heck of a time connecting my work laptop (Domain credentials) to my home media server(not Domain credentials). When I was running Win8 and Win10 the last time I did this, I had no issues accessing the home network with the work Domain machine. For whatever reason now, the home media computer is seeking network credentials and is not happy with the Domain credentials of my work laptop. Yes, I am aware that Domain credentials don't work outside of the domain but I don't have an option (with Win11) to connect to the media server NOT using the domain credentials.

I'm not 100% sure where to start with the details, but the computer I'm using as the media server is set to Private network, but with Network Discovery enabled. I was able to map the storage drive easily to my other computers in the house (all on the same family workgroup), but as I mentioned before, as soon as I try to connect with my Domain laptop the whole credentials become an issue. Since I'm sure I'm just missing something simple (like where to add permission for a specific device btu Advanced Sharing seems cut back), would anyone off hand know of a helpful article to point me back in the right direction?

Thanks!

The domain controller may have set Administration Templates, restricting access to resources outside the domain. You can try using the net use command from the command line. The command will force a particular username and password when accessing a network share.

net use <server> /user:<username> <password>

If the command doesn't fail you can access the share.

Is the work machine forced onto a VPN to connect to network resources? If this is a “large company”, the machine will be locked down and unable to connect to anything except the corporate network and all networking will be disabled until a VPN is connected and traffic will be forced over that VPN.

If this is the case, you *may* be able to get around it, but I wouldn’t want my work machine touching anything on my network anyways… they will be able to monitor any and all traffic to and from that machine. Personally I go as far as doing the equivalent of putting my work devices on my guest network specifically so they can’t reach out and touch my personal devices.
