Also if anyone could tell me how I could check if any of my parts would bottle neck the build then please let me know how. Thanks.

This build seems awfully expensive for a first build. Could you outline what you plan on using this computer for? I built my first computer used just for gaming for a little over 1100$ CAD. You're hitting almost triple that with this build. I was playing triple A games a medium to high settings on a 1080p 60 hz monitor. I've gone up from that now (built that 6 years ago) .

  • Your CPU i can almost certainly say is overkill unless you're doing some major work loads.
  • Why do you need a 2TB hard drive and  a 2TB NVME? What do you plan to store on these? For me i have a 2TB NVME and thats it, i can install a couple dozen games no problem.
  • Liquid cooler might be overkill if you get a lower spec CPU.
  • Ram is ok choice
  • GPU is ok choice
  • Case is OK choice, mostly personal preference, but im sure there are cheaper one or ones that come with fans. (i personally use a fractal torrent compact which i love) Or this much cheaper options: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bCYQzy/corsair-4000d-airflow-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-9011200-ww
  • Power supply is ok choice
  • 2k 144hz monitor might be too much for a RTX 4070 in a lot of cases, for your first build i'd recommend either 1080p 144hz or 2k 60hz depending on your use case. (what kind of games)

bottle neck

Currently i think your gpu will be the bottle neck for the CPU, but the solution there is to get a cheaper cpu rather than spending even more on a bigger gpu that you probably dont need. Again, need to know your use case.

I'm just looking for some 1440p 144hz gaming on games like rdr2, cyber punk, elden ring. What kind of gpu should I get for it not be a bottle neck?

Depends how much you want to spend on this build. im getting the feeling you dont have a budget. if thats the case just get an rtx 4090. Then upgrade the PSU to a 1000w psu with a 12VHPWR connector.
If you dont want to shell out for the 4090 then get a 4080. Its really all based off how much you want to spend. "im just looking for some 1440p 144hz gaming" is like saying "im just looking for a car with a 0-60 of 4 seconds and top speed of 250 km/hr...shouldnt be a big deal right?"   (i know nothing about cars but seemed like a good analogy)
The CPU still seems overkill. For video games you dont need a super intense CPU like the AMD ryzen 9. You could still hit 1440p and 144hz with a latest gen ryzen 5. the graphics mostly are bottlenecked by (you guessed it) the graphics card. The CPU is important to run newer games as they make the games more complicated, but the graphics will only hit it a bit and go really hard on the GPU. Knowing this, it doesnt make sense to get the top of the line CPU and then a mid tier GPU (4070 is mid tier, 4080 and 4090 are top tier) .
In my head if you want to pair similary powered parts together you'd buy them like this:
Ryzen 5 <> 4070
Ryzen 7 <> 4080

Ryzen 9 <> 4090.

This is an over generalization of the CPU and GPU but when speking out a build thats what i look for first. Why spend so much on one part and then not spend nearly as much on the other most important part?
For gaming you rarely need a lot of cores, you just need a few really fast cores. This is what you get with the Ryzen 5 line up. Ryzen 9 does boost a bit higher but at probably double the cost. That opprotunity cost is not worth it.

Well thank you, I did enjoy the car analogy, I do have a budget of £2000, and thanks for the more simplified way of seeing what cpu and gpu I should pair together.
