Is this a good deal?

I found someone selling a these drives on FB Marketplace for $20 a piece. Is that a good deal? But I am not sure how much storage they have the FB listing says 4TB but his store listing says both 4TB and 128MB which is the storage amount?

4tb is the actual storage, 128mb is the cache

 

when buying used hdd's you need to look at more than if its just working or not, so be careful you don't buy a bad one

Unless you have server-grade HBAs and cables available, these are absolutely not usable in consumer desktop PCs.

I've had REALLY good experiences with Server Part Deals. I've bought north of 20 drives from them (mostly in the 14TB range) and have had no problems in the past 2 years. I would recommend looking more in the 12TB range in the Manufacturer Recertified Drives page as they are only 50% more money for 200% more storage

Connector is one thing ( it is still difrent ), the protocol is different ( it’s not AHCI it’s iSCSI) and there’s no going around it other then dedicated HBA cards, or usb adapters that cost like 140$ ( couple years ago they costed 1000$ )

Correct-ish. SATA is a subset of the SAS, allowing for SATA drives to work with SAS controllers.

SATA's electrical protocol is SATA; link layer is ATA/ATAPI. SAS's electrical protocol is SAS, link layer is SCSI.

 

AHCI is a different layer to SATA, on the controller-to-host side communications/memory management.

 

iSCSI is something entirely different; iSCSI is connecting to arbitrary block devices presented using SCSI protocol over networked infrastructure.
