A full height video card won't fit in a small form factor Optiplex.

You're also limited by your power supply; it won't have dedicated PCIe power (or enough wattage to handle a power hungry GPU), so you're limited to cards that only need power from the PCIe slot.

I think your best bet is going to be something like one of those new low-profile RTX 3050 6 GB cards.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I think a 1650 don't need external PCIe power

GPU height can be an issue tho, there's some LP 1650 but they're becoming rare

RTX3050 are really expensive for their poor performance, they cost $175...

It would be better yo sell it and buy a used gaming pc for 300$ Since this 1650 is 150$ and the 7040 can be sold for 75$+ easy if the higher end version this is very doable.

Even if you have the i7 6700 that cpu is really starting to show its age. Then the 1650 you have here DOES NOT FIT in thr 7040 sff. Its also a very low end card these days.

Its quite easy to get like a i5 10400 + gtx1660 pc for under 300$ and that BLOWS this out of the water. Bettet is also possible here.

That also avoids you being stuck on a limiting dell pc.

Should I get a low profile one then?

You either get a low profile card or you do this:

I know what I would do... but for you it's probably better to get a low profile and make sure it doesn't need a PCIE power cable.

The direction tells you... the direction
