standalone fan speed control

OhYou_

Does anyone recommend a fan speed controller that is built very well and compact for making something similar to the noctua meme desk fan?
It will be carried around in a backpack along with the fan, not so much just set on a desk, so light weight, durable, and compact is preferred.
I've had a few in the past that came with like a zalman cooler, but they were big and kinda junk.

My other thought was to use two noctua LNA and a 4 way switch and just make my own, but variable speed using the pwm would be more efficient.
btw the fan has pwm

ngl that looks like something you give to a toddler.
the knob sticking out the top is just going to snap off inside a backpack

Unlikely the knob would be subjected to the sort of force that the knob would snap off unless you acted like a toddler.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

While i appreciate your concern,  I suspect that  as long as you're not banging your backpack around, it should be fine.

However, if you're not sure, ask Noctua and explain the abuse it'll have to survive. 😀

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
