Flip 5 to 24+?

My flip 5 recently broke, and instead of fixing it and having to deal with fixing it again in a year or two, for $2-300 each time (Did have care+, but... problems happened and I had to cancel it), I want to just move away from it all together. I think the S24+ is the best bet, because it's not too expensive, but still good. Is this not enough of an upgrade or even a downgrade? Should I just fix the screen and deal with it? I don't really care too much about cameras or the .0001% extra power from the S8G3, just the screen and a little bit of battery. I just want to know if I would get better value from buying the s24+ and keeping it for 2-3 years, or just deal with the f5 for another year and figure out how to pay enough for the screen replacement. Mistakes were made in buying the f5. Fun phone, maybe I'll come back in a few years when screens progress. sorry if this is stupid

I say it's worth considering if you can get a decent deal for the S24+. Never mind annual repair costs, you don't want to be without your phone at least once a year for something that isn't your fault.

Come on man, don't complain about money and then talk about how you're going to use a $1000 smartphone for only 2-3 years.

Modern smartphones easily last 6+ years as long as you get a new battery replacement at some point within that time.

im curious why youd want to buy a z flip anyways? the folds make sense since its literally a tablet in your pocket and tbh im kinda interested in them but the flip makes zero sense since normal phones can already fit in your pocket

and my experience with the flip 3 is pretty meh aswell performance wise as the chip is throttled so severely that it performs like a 600 series snapdragon which is what my vivo y51 is using atleast thats what i observe playing minecraft

what do you use the thing for anyways? cameras are one of the main selling points of a flagship otherwise you might aswell get a cheaper flagship killer like the poco phones now that i can find used poco f5 for like 240$ even though its already got an amoled and a chip just as fast as the 8 gen 1 cpu perf wise

idk how much amoleds really vary as i cant really tell much of a difference aside from slight colour diffs between my a8 2018 and my moms note 20 ultra when both can still do deep blacks since theyre amoleds

if you dont really need the current specs why not just buy an s23 or a used s22/21? i can find used s21 ultra for like 420$ near half the price of a regular s24 and id assume itd still have a better screen and camera or atleast be close since it is a top end model vs a base model then theres the poverty spec s21fe selling for half the price of the ultra but at that point id rather get a used poco f5 =p

I have an S24 Ultra, a Z Fold6 and a Z Flip5....and I have different usage scenarios for them. When I want something small and compact for when I'm out and about in town, my Z Flip5 fits that bill. When I go jogging, or cycling, or indulge in activities that requires a sturdier phone, my S24 Ultra fits the bill. When I'm out and about, carrying my cross body bag, or when I'm thinking of chilling in a random cafe, I'd take my Fold6, and perhaps my S24U as backup, so that I can surf the net with a bigger screen, or watch/listen to YT while I surf the net....you know, chilling.

Oh yeah, I also have a Nothing Phone 2a which I take with me when I'm out jogging at night, the flashing glyph while I'm listening to Spotify acts as blinkers for me. Now, this may prompt you to ask, "Why four phones?"...to which I'll only say, "I've asked that question myself..." I guess I love shiny gadgets....
