What is the best thermal paste for GPUs?

Since I have changed the thermal paste on my 3070ti, the temps where really good for the first 4 weeks, but then they have just went up like the thermal paste has just not lasted, I have tried that noctua thermal paste but I guess that was not good enough? What paste should I be using as I did put a good amount on to fully fill the die, I want something that would last me a long time not 2 or 3 weeks.

Try PTM7950, it's sold as "not pumping out" so last longer

Getting a kryosheet seems a bit risky as it could kill your hardware and it look hard to apply as you need to make sure it doesn't move, where would you get that PTM7950 from as I live in the UK and MODDIY charges me more on the shipping than the actual pad.

Got mine on Amazon, and Thermal Grizzly has it as well for 10 bucks, don't think delivery to UK will be expensive

Yeah it would kill my gpu if I accidentally get it over something else other than the die, as isnt it thermal conductive?
After watching the video it seems like something thick would be good, I'm going to give a shot at MX-6 and see how that goes.
Mainly need something that doesnt spill over.

Why are you repasting your GPU in the first place?  They're not meant for maintenance like that.

 

For cpu, I use Kryonaut when repasting. Otherwise I use the pre applied. 

 

It's all so close it doesn't matter.

If you read my post you would understand, I did change it the first time because for a bit of fun not knowing that you couldnt just use any sort of thin paste as the noctua paste was. Temps were better at the start but when 4 weeks past they somehow got worse I would think because of the spill over

I did read the first post, I was curious why you did it in the first place. 

 

Hopefully a thicker paste helps, but you may have other issues since even with push out you've still got paste on the chips that will be working.

 

Hopefully all your pads are in place and you put the card back together properly. That's usually the number one cause of high temps after after a repaste.

 

Let us know if a thicker paste brings you back to good temps.

It could be the thermal pads, as when I put the card back together I put the pads directly on the memory there was a rip in the pad but I kinda squished it together so
there was full cover
These were the temps after playing Cyberpunk for half an hour, the mem was around 80c, the GPU temp was around 78c and the hot spot was around 97c, this was on the 110% power limit and I was using RT to full push the card.

What's the difference and why would you choose one over the other?

I was looking at getting a used 3090 (one of these days?) and lots of ppl say those often need to be taken apart (and replacing the pads?)?

No real difference outside the obvious.

 

You'll need the appropriate pads as well, so make sure to research those.

Tip for the Kryosheet:

 

Use 0.5 mm Thermal pads to cover the capacitors next to the GPU die. And don't cut the Kryosheet to size, leave it at it's original size. This way you can't short the capacitors and the sticky thermal pads will hold the Kryosheet in place so it can't move around. This application method worked like a charm for me. And 0.5 mm is slim and squishy enough so you still get proper contact between the GPU die and cooler.

 

You can also use Thermal Grizzly Shield or any other conformal coating to protect the capacitors.

 

In terms of cooling performance, the Kryosheet is better than thermal paste in my experience. The average GPU temps are pretty similar, but the hotspot temps are significantly lower than with paste on my 4080.

 

Not having to take apart my water cooling loop to repaste the GPU down the line is just the icing on the cake.

It does matter on certain cards , Pump out effect is a very real thing but usually on large chiplet dies from AMD.
