10G network card not detected

Tom_Gaming109

Hi all,

I believe this is the correct place to ask this, if not please correct me!

I have recently bought 2 10G PCI-E network cards to link between my PC and NAS, I will link them below.

I have put one into my NAS (Truenas Core) and it was detected fine, instantly there and working, however when I put one into my PC there is nothing at all, I get a link light when I plug an ethernet cable in however nothing in control panel nor device manager with hidden devices enabled.

I tried to install the drivers for it however these only detected my onboard nic.

I then swapped the cards thinking one may be faulty, however as with the first, it was picked up and working straight away in my nas.

I am now extremely confused as to why this is happening, I did have 3 m.2 drives in my system however I removed one thinking that it could be causing issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Network Card Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/6WnCnn3

PC:

Z590 Gaming PLUS
i7-11700
32gb DDR4-3600

2 M.2 SSDs - 1x 1tb 1x2tb
RTX 3060Ti
And my non working NIC, as well as a random HDD I threw in a while back.

Does the NIC show up in Windows under Device Manager as an unknown device at least?

Nothing at all sadly..image.png.5f62bdf3a0daf04892188804a22a05b8.png

Edit: ignore the bluetooth and wifi stuff, I normally have a wireless card in too but have taken that out for troubleshooting

Which slot did you plug it in to? Middle or bottom?

Middle, it doesn’t fit in the bottom due to the heatsink on it as there’s wiring etc in the way.

When you pulled the m.2 out, did you pull the correct one? It sounds a lot like a lane issue.

That’s what I was thinking. I just took the smallest one out that I wasn’t using 😂

might try to move them around when I get back from work and see if that helps.

is there anything online that says which slots go where?

This isn't undocumented. It's in the manual.

I can't speak about your situation, but in this case, it is in the manual at least 3 times...
