Best way to edit footage off site.

My friend is a new video editor. On site, they shoot with two cameras and an external mic. He edits from home and was wondering if there are any alternatives from grabbing the SD card and bringing it home to his computer. I used to edit, but kinda forgot most of it.

His options are (if I'm not mistaken):

1. SD card to external drive on site and bring external drive home.

2. Bring SD card home and then bring it back on site

3. Is there a online way to upload footage straight from the camera onto a cloud website. Then access the website on his computer at home? If so, any recommendations for cloud services?

Thanks!

I mean... any method of moving data from one place to another will work. I've found external HDDs (that'd be SSDs nowadays for your friend) to be far better solutions than SD cards, though - more durable, faster (to the extent where you can edit straight off em), harder to lose. And your friend would not have to download data from the cloud with an SSD either.

There are a lot of cloud solutions that are made for syncing proxies to editors offsite.

We don't know your friends workflow, so he is probably much better off working with his team than asking online.

For sneaker-net methods, they would absolutely be better off with a USB ssd instead of SD card.
