Duplicate Remote Control Signals for Adjustable Bed Frame?

This may sound weird, but I figured I would post it here because I haven't found the answer anywhere else.

My wife and I recently got a Casper adjustable bed frame that came with one remote. I looked into getting a second remote, one for each of us, and the cost was $125.

I was thinking that it should be fairly easy to just use an IR phone adapter to control the bed instead of spending all of that money on a new remote, but does anyone know if that is a possibility?

If so, what do I have to buy, and if not, are there any other options? I'd rather not spend that much money on another remote but I will if it's the only way!

Are you sure that it actually is IR? If it is, your idea should work.
