Can’t downgrade iCloud storage

Go to solution Solved by creat0r,

I solved it. I went to http://reportaproblem.apple.com/ and chose to report a quality problem with my iCloud+ 200 GB plan, then explained I wanted to downgrade to 50 GB. Apple got back to me within 24 hours and canceled and refunded my 200 GB payment, therefore switching me over to the 5 GB free plan. From there I was able to upgrade to 50 GB without losing any files (since files are saved for a couple of days even after you’ve been downgraded to the free 5 GB plan).

I’m currently paying for 200 GB iCloud+ storage. However, I’m only using 46 GB, and today I deleted a a lot of videos so soon even more storage will become available. I went into iCloud settings to downgrade to 50 GB, I clicked the approve button on the downgrade warning (“if you use more than 50 GB you’ll need to free up more storage”). But after that, it still says that the 200 GB plan will auto renew next month. I tried this on both my iPhone and iPad, but both give the same result: after the confirmation button is clicked, the downgrade menu just spins around and shows that the 200 GB will auto-renew next month, even though the 50 GB has a check mark next to it. How should I interpret this?

Maybe another iPhone user can see if it appears the same way for them? Or how do you mean I should contact Apple Support, how do I reach them?

Doubtful that anyone is going to mess with their iCloud storage settings for troubleshooting purposes, you'd have to happen across someone who just happens to be downgrading their storage right now.

Support section on the site, or the Support app on your phone. I believe it's preinstalled, if it isn't then it'll be on the App Store.

Yes I tried to cancel but it still says the same thing (will auto renew xxxx). I guess this is an intentional bug from Apple to avoid user downgrading 🙂
