1st Build, Unsure about the graphics card...

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

For future reference, please use PCPartPicker.com for making the parts lists. It's much easier for us to see pricing breakdowns and edit the build list than just a bunch of links to Newegg.

First things first, if you can I would recommend going for a DDR5 setup rather than sticking with DDR4, especially with that kit you were looking at. That kit should be going for no more than $60, not over $100 and well more expensive than a lot of good DDR5 kits. Second, I'd probably recommend going AMD here so you have an upgrade path, plus while 12th gen isn't susceptible to the 13th gen instability issues, it has other issues with the memory controller that I wouldn't want to touch if you don't have to. I'd step up to a 2TB SSD if you can, they're not too much more expensive and 1TB goes very quickly nowadays, then just ditch the HDD (IMO any hard drive under 2TB isn't worth buying nowadays).

If you do want to stick with Intel as it is a bit faster and cheaper, I would change out your motherboard. The B760M PG Riptide is a better motherboard all around, and even supports overclocking the 12600KF if you want to give that a shot.

Budget (including currency): Around $1,300 (Probably a bit more on the CPU if needed)

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Doom Eternal, Dishonored 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghostwire Tokyo

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I was planning to follow the build guide video Linus did here but noticed the Graphics card jumped in price, I checked around and found this one (instead of the one he recommended here) it seems better and has a lower price point so I'm wondering if there's a catch or if the original one just jumped in price because it's in his video.

This is my first build/post, sorry for the long names, I'm not quite experienced enough to tell which bits were important.

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Basically, took the same route as @RONOTHAN## except went heavier on the CPU and lighter on the PSU. Personally, I think it's worth it to jump up to an X3D chip if it's possible to stretch the budget (as you mentioned in the OP).

with 7800x3D I'd get at least dual tower cooler instead of single,

this is the build you want if you don't feel like rocking everything cheapest possible (except RAM and case because RAM is ok)
