Lenovo M75S-1 11A9 Processor Upgrade

SlyMcG123

I want to preface this by making it clear that during my entire experience with this computer I have never once used the integrated graphics.  I have always used my RTX 3050 Low Profile video card and have an HDMI plugged into it at all times for the purpose of this post.

I recently purchased an M75S-1 11A9 Desktop.  It came with an AMD Pro 3200G installed.  I upgraded the ram and installed an RTX 3050 for more intense graphic applications.

After experiencing some slowdowns due to the processor I purchased a Ryzen Pro 3700 because everything I could find said that it was compatible and with it being 65W I was capable of using it.

I installed the processor turn on the computer and immediately am met with no output from my GPU.  Another thing I noticed is that I don't get USB power.  I have updated the BIOS, and reset CMOS but am unable to get this processor to work and wanted to post my issue here as a last-ditch effort before sending it back.

Also, the 3200G consistently works every time (again no I am not plugged into the on board display port I am using the 3050 output).  There doesn't appear to be any issue with the computer itself.  Any recommendations for BIOS settings or other things to try would be appreciated.

Again the things I've tried are

1. Bios Update

2. Reset CMOS

Maybe it might be Motherboard restriction made by Lenovo itself that doesn't allow you to upgrade to better processors.

Did you search up on google about people who did the same thing. Maybe that might help. Or read the support webpage for your desktop. OR maybe your PSU can't handle it maybe. I need more info on the specs to help you out.

Pls Mark a solution as a solution, would be really helpful.

BTW pls correct me, iam really stoobid at times.

Probably Ryzen PSB thing

Not that I'm that savvy about it, but from what I gathered, it basically lock the CPU & MOBO pairing.

As far as I know that is only related to the processor, it blows efuses or antifuses inside the processor to lock the CPU to the specific motherboard. It shouldn't lock the motherboard to the specific system. LTT has done a video showing this, the CPU that came with the Lenovo system didn't work in another system, but putting a new CPU in the Lenovo system worked fine. It also seems like PSB is a relatively recent thing that came 1-2 years after the release of ryzen 3000 so 3000 series CPUs shouldn't be affected.

Thank you for these replys.

I reached out to the seller who assured me it was not locked... for whatever thats worth.  I want to point out that currently it doesn't even post with this CPU installed.

You should consider that you new CPU may be the one at fault. Can you try it into another computer ? (or have it tested at the store you bought it from ?)

I think you're probably right, unfortunately I dont have another PC and this was from a seller in china.... just gonna have to wait a couple weeks Im skeptical that I will send it back and they will claim that it works and not give me my money back.  I have no idea how ebay works.

It works by distilling tears from bad deals....

But seriously, if things are still the same since I last used eBay. You got a certain number of days to signify that you received the item and that it is not dead. Depending on the seller's rating, you also got an eBay buyers' protection that you can use by contacting eBay's customer service. Then, if you paid via Paypal, there is a Paypal buyers' protection that you can use to make a claim the item was not as listed.

If these all fail, you can also appeal to your credit card supplier and try to issue a Charge Back. There are certain conditions to claim a charge back.

Note that you have a certain period of time to use these services, if eligible.

But first, it would be a good thing if you can find a computer to test your CPU. Computer repair shops and retailers may be able to help you there.

Good luck again.
