Is my CPU working normally?

Hi, I did a stability test on OCCT on my CPU.

At 100% usage it is pulling in 81w, am I overthinking or is this normal?

I'd just run Cinebench R23. Should get anywhere from 18k-19k with a 4.8-4.9GHz all core boost with up to 90W of draw.

You know, it actually draws less than advertised, and it's completely normal:

  • Lower power draw in general, is not an issue, it doesn't damage the components either

So when it says it's power is 80W in stress testing thats normal?? I am just getting paranoid because I bent a pin in the Socket, I am just testing to see anything sus is happening. Would you be able to explain to me what would happen if I damaged CPU socket? Does my cpu numbers look ok to you?

well depending how much and which pin the issues can range from nothing to the PC just not working,

yeah nothing unusual,

boost near 5Ghz, 80C on average during stress, and that's All Core

it will probably reach 5Ghz or very near while gaming, because games don't use all cores

That's a bit low. Hardware Unboxed got an 18,395 in their review, so you're about 10% down.

With that said, the review configuration had an AIO. Cooler performance can impact X3D chips pretty hard, as they are usually thermally limited.

What CPU cooler do you have?

There's your problem, have you set PBO2 limit to 80C? Default is 85C.

I wouldn’t even know how to do that, sorry I’m new to the PC world. How May I change this?

they have dual tower cooler, if HW unboxed used AIO their score will be better

Some reasons why a 7800x3D wouldn't be hitting 85C under an all core load:

-PBO2 limit is set lower than 85C. This would reduce the wattage since 7000x3D really needs that extra heat transfer to reach higher wattages with a normal lidded configuration

-Extreme undervolting that's creating a voltage limit (this one might be applicable based on the data you've provided)

-Extreme cooling, but that would come with more performance not less

-UEFI bugs?

Oh, also install HWinfo64 over HWmonitor, that screenshot looks like HWmonitor to me. That software can have issues with Ryzen architecture and false reporting.

HWinfo64, you'd want to focus in on the per core temps and wattage draw. Some data collection for reference that I took when I had a 7950x3D.

why wouldn't it be normal?

my 3600 a 65w chip drew 130w sometimes (pbo says hello!)

however keep in mind such third party "tests" aren't necessarily accurate anyway.

(me i have a Corsair rmi and are pretty confident in its accuracy actually)

I’m just an overthinker bro, I thought I ruined my cpu socket installing my cpu.

ya ok, but you didn't even specify what you think is the problem afaik?

"With a TDP of 120 W, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D consumes a lot of power, so good cooling is definitely needed"

so 81w seems really low, is that what you're concerned about?

(i would be tbh)
