Looking for a Mic that isolates background noise, mostly for chatting, 100-150 Dollars

Chazzwazz

I currently have a fifine, dont know the model since its not written anywhere, but I imagine its a condenser one I didnt pay much for it since I thought it wasnt important, terrible mistake. The darn thing captures everything in my house.

So now im looking for a mic that only captures my voice.

Thank you for your time!

Can you turn on artificial noise suppression on a software on your computer, for example, realtek audio console has one built in for mics, or if chatting on discord ive found Krisp does a pretty decent job, and also turn down sensitivity a little to help this? If this makes you too quite, you can up the gain/boost slightly. Might save you a few bucks

I have a FiFine AM8 (about $50) - a dynamic microphone - and it doesn't hear anything except for my voice.

I loudly play Helldivers 2 on speakers.

I have travelled down this rabbit hole SO LONG. I ended up with an AT2040 and fell in love. I have one for my office, one for my gaming rig, and one for my partner's rig (we game back to back so noise isolation is very important)
The only downside of a hypercardioid mic is the exact upside: You have to speak right into the barrel otherwise you will not be heard.
I plug them into UMC204HD USB interfaces and hang them on a Rhode PS1 mic arm, so my setup isn't cheap, but it's been rock solid for 3+ years. They do seem to have a model with a built in USB interface for an extra 50$, but given that's the most likely part to die, I dropped the extra 30 for the discrete interface

not exactly my area of expertise but these are things I'd look into

1. Software filtering. RTXVoice and RNNoise for example

2. Microphone positioning - get the unit close to your face and further from speakers and keyboards

3. HIGHLY directional mics (shotgun microphone?)

See if you can fix it using software/machine learning first. It's free.
