Civil 3D build, what do you guys think ?

Budget (including currency): 2500 euros

Country: France

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: SketchUp,rhino 3D, AutoCad, Truview

I set up this build aimed for architectural design. I went with high single core performance and compatible RAM as well as a rtx 4060 for good price to performance.

Maybe there is something else I missed and could be optimized better, I'm open to all suggestions.

Thanks

i dunno man a 4060 is already trash value by default (loses to a 6700xt by a longshot doesnt even beat the 3060ti) and for a 2500€ build i think the price to performance ship had long since sailed

9950x + 4070tis + 96gb 6000c32

upgraded cpu

doubled faster storage

doubled rams

far superior gpu

if you dont need the 96gb of ram you can trim it down to 64gb which should save ~10€ or 32gb which would save 200€

id wait for the 9950x to launch cause 9950x will perform better than a 7950x3d unless the programs youll be running actually benifit from the extra cache

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the input.

I went with the 4060 because it seems like lower consumption and also had tensor cores compares to AMD. Not sure if they have changed that with the newer generation AMD's though.

Is that ram compatible with that motherboard?

Since I'm building this for a friend I want it to be easily serviceable but also want to make sure there are no issues with hardware compatibility.

Gaming isn't mentioned which makes me wonder why the 7950X3D was chosen instead of the 7950X?

Unless you need USB 4.0 or 10 GBe LAN the motherboard seems more expensive than needed.

The memory is a sub-optimal pairing with the CPU cooler. Module height will require the outer fan of the cooler to be mounted several mm higher than usual. Consider a 2x32GB kit instead. There are several on the motherboard memory QVL that are less expensive, some with better timings.

Consider an ATX 3.x compliant PSU.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
