Need help proving my freind wrong for good

So pretty much I'm trying to help my freind a PC for blender, Photoshop, school work and gaming. He's agreed on pretty much everything except for the CPU and GPU. Once I've changed his mind on the GPU he'll want to change his CPU. So he wants a AM4 CPU but won't go with an X3D and he also wants a 7600 XT, he's got a budget of around 1700 CAD so I think these are terrible choices. I found a 3080 used for 450 CAD but he doesn't want to buy used even though the seller litterally has it in a system right now, it's a low price since the seller is in the middle of nowhere but right now he's a 30 minute drive away. He found a 4060 ti 16gb for 550 CAD and was pretty set on that, I told him that the 4060 ti 16gb was extremely underwhelming in price to performance becuase the only difference is a 4060 ti with slapped in VRAM that costed 35% more. After he thought about the 4060 ti 16gb he some reason got set on the 16gb dream even if most of that VRAM wasn't even usable on some of these cards. That's how we got to the 7600 XT, he won't have anything less than 16gb now I mentioned the 6700 XT and the 6750 XT which both cost less new and perform 5-10 percent better on average.

TLDR = my freind needs a PC for 3d and image rendering for school he  thinks a 7600 XT is the best way to go after I've given him good suggestions but he won't budge.

Any suggestions to change his mind are appreciated.

From what I'm aware of, for blender, nvidia cards are usually much faster, so ironically that might be one of the few use cases that the 4060 Ti 16GB actually makes sense. I do agree with you in general that they're underwhelming for the price and I'm similarly not a fan of the 7600 XT.

I'd just let him buy what he wants though, 'cos if he has problems with anything you steered him toward you'll get the blame. You are right though, that the 6700/6750 XT are better performing.

For creativity, I'd suggest he watches some videos on Tech Notice (YouTube) and for gaming, this channel is interesting for comparisons:

Tell him it's cheaper and faster than getting a 4070 Super, which is "relatively" slower than RTX 3080: (also allows for faster other components or aesthetics)

X3d is for gaming. Won't be needed for Blender and school etc... Do your own research too man.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Half of the PC is used for family gaming, other half is school work with blender. I should have mentioned that mb.

all good. Even so I wouldn't spend the extra money on an X3d. An Intel CPU would actually be better for blender but worse for gaming, what's more important? Gaming or Blender?

From what I have read and heard when it comes to mid range CPU's Intel's generally have better single core performance which from my research is what blender requires. BTW my research was a quick Google search so it has a high chance of being wrong, please correct me if I am.

No your right my freind is just an idiot and saw a statistic that showed that certain higher end AMD cpus are better than Intel ones for rendering. The statistics are right but the CPUs that are in the budget range just are worse price to performance for gaming and rendering for one PC.

Blender will run on as many threads as you give it.

As you can see the 5950X as an example is only beaten by 13th gen i9's whilst costing far less than it.

Then there's the whole 13th and 14th gen stability issues to sorry about.

I would certainly go AMD over Intel right now.....not even worth thinking about.

Please explain how that is comparing mid range? This shows the 12600K is better than a 5800X3d and a 7600x. The 10900K is also better.

Alright thanks, with your friend I would try to explain but if he doesnt agree just leave it. Similar story with my friend, he wanted Nvidia GPU, I told him to get a better and cheaper AMD GPU but he didn't listen. Not my problem TBH.
