Advice on fiber prewiring

Bob B.

I'm building a new home and plan to prewire fiber from my server room to the two home offices.  I'd like to be able to have my gaming machine in the basement and have a decent gaming experience in my office.  I've seen some recent LTT videos where Linus talks about his setup in general terms but I haven't been able to find one where he talks specifics.  Does anyone have a link?

At this stage, I just need to know what to pull so I can future proof.  Single or multi mode, number of strands, etc.  I'm not at all familiar with fiber and most of what I find is more business oriented rather than home setups.

Any help or pointers to good resources would be much appreciated.

While I don't have specific advice on the type of Fiber (or other cables) to pull (beyond CAT6A cable), if you know where you want your networking runs I'd be asking the electrician / contractor about the feasibility of running 1-inch grey PVC piping in the walls between room with a few pull-strings pre-strung in each pipe. That way you can run whatever you want / need even after the house is finished.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | [REDACTED] - 50GB US + CAN Data $34/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Yes, that's the plan (although I'm planning on smurf tube).  I may decide to pull the fiber later if it turns out to be more expensive than I am anticipating but I'd like to figure out what I need so I can price it out.

Thanks
