What's the point of having a mac on usb on a docking station?

I came across to this sticker on a docking station

I suppose that:

Pcie mac, it's the Mac that's out of the rj45

Usb mac is what the computer sees when it's plugged on the doc

If that's actually the case, what's the point of having separated macs? What are the benefits?

If it ain't, what's up with that?

Does it maybe support thunderbolt and for some reason the network port has a different MAC address depending on if connected over Thunderbolt or USB?
