frozensun

Hi guys.Due to that onboard sound card I got the only 2 sound card I could find in this screwed country.

Which one of those would give me better sound quality, so I could install that one?

The Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium would be the better option here but drivers are officially limited to Windows 10. You can still install the 10 drivers on Windows 11 but it's not guaranteed to work, most likely will.

The Xonar SE is an entry-level sound card though it does have official Windows 11 support.

I have Win 10..so that one should give me higher quality sound?

I downloaded some custom made drivers for it.

Ah crap well get the win 11 supported one since no guarantee the spundblaster will carry forward.

Not really no. For better quality a dac or any other external stuff is what you want. These are basically just relics from a time long past best the titanium can do is driver harder to drive headphones a little better but again nowhere as good as a very budget dac.

So pretty much its just another one of those make belief things. Back in the day sure you could've for sure noticed but nowadays unless ypu get a REALLY TERRIBLE audio chip somehow you wont notice a difference.

I purchased even Soundblaster x G6, good enough? 😉 I go mad at myself because I fried onboard audio somehow, but that is another story.

I just want to have PCI sound card too.

If you don't care about quality, then sure. If you care about quality, get a simple usb dac for $10.

Then why are you asking about these other two?

As I wrote I want to have pci card and plugged optical cable all the time to the PC.

There's basically no difference in sound quality between the two. (Especially if you use the optical or digital output, which completely bypasses the DAC.)

Just get the Asus, because it has a longer support future ahead of it. The Sound Blaster is much older.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Sorry, It's just a very strange question to most people. I can't understand why someone would want worse quality and more inconvinience.

But to answer, get whichever one is cheaper. They will be on par with each other.

I've read on amazon reviews that Xonar outputs only stereo over optical, that would be huge issue for me, since I own Z906 5.1 system.

Then your choice is made for you. Quality won't matter. toslink is compressed for 5.1 anyways.

Then continue using the Sound BlasterX G6 you said you already have.

Fretting over the minute differences between an ancient card with iffy driver support and a newer card that doesn't have the features you need is a waste of your time.

My friend when my onboard audio chip died, I was looking for PCI audio card and here in my country those 2 were only one I could find.

Ancient or not those 2 models in whole f..d up country are the ONLY ONES I could find here.

I did not know G6 exists. Then when I purchased both PCI cards I got mad myself because it's my fault that onboard audio card died, then I purchased even G6 wanting to have perfect DAC for recent headphones I got (DT 770 600 Ohms and DT 990).

So still now,ofc I am oldschool, I got used to old PCI soundcards, back in 90s were USB sound cards did not exist.

There is no functional difference these days. It's not 1997 anymore! 😉

Keep using what you have, you don't need to buy even more stuff that will do exactly the same job.

I got good offer for G6, 110 euros, box was just opened.

I am thinking of buying one more since I don't want to carry one each time I change PCs.
