reformating my ntfs drive to ext4 without dataloss

You can't format your drives from NTFS to ext4 without losing data, at least as far as I know. Best option is indeed to back up the data on that NTFS drive, format it to ext4, and then put that data back in.

ill try to image the drive and copy all the data from the image after i reformat it or something like that
