Hi everyone. i have a problem with my ram being unstable at any frequency other than JDEC. no matter how much i try i cant even get it to run at one step higher than JDEC but weird enough i can tighten the timings a little bit. being financially strained, cant afford to buy new ram/MB atm. so any help is appreciated.

My system:

two sticks of 8gb Patriot 5200mh CL36 (hynix)

Ryzen 5 7600 CPU

Asus Prime B650-M A WIFI (horrible horrible MB with horrible VRM, 10 out of 10 do not recommend)

XFX 6900XT GPU

No matter how many settings i change (like increasing voltages by safe increments, loosening the timings, etc) it just refuses to be stable (it always boots up but starts showing error during CPU stress tests like OCCT). DOCP is not stable either. none of the profiles are stable.

but weirdly enough i can get it to run at 4800mhz CL32.

any advice? should i try changing CPU voltages or sth? i just need my budget PC to run as "expected". oh and yes, i run the latest bios available on asus website

I wonder if it's just an issue with your RAM, your motherboard supports overclocking and DDR5 up to 5600.

Have you checked the QVL for your specific model of memory?

Have you been referencing any DDR5 overclocking guides for AM5?

Unfortunately its not in the QVL list, but technically that shouldn't really matter (or so i'm told, dont know if its true). its just weird that i cant run higher frequencies but i can tighten the timings. is it not?

Just YT like a guide from LTT from back in 2022

Is that DDR5 specific? You really need one specific to DDR5 & to AM5 because manual overclocking (without XMP/EXPO) needs to partially mirror the settings that XMP/EXPO changes when enabled. It is more complicated than it was with DDR4, where you could just change the DRAM frequency & DRAM voltage and only needed to change anything else if the overclock was a big one.
