do I need heatsink for 2nd nvme ssd?

Go to solution Solved by SpookyCitrus,

Unless you have zero airflow in the case most M.2 SSDs don't require a heatsink. It should work just fine without one.

I have found a great deal for a 2tb nvme ssd on prime day (2tb crucial p3 plus for 93 euros)

Would it fine to get it without a heasink or should I look for one that comes with a heat sink since im using my 1 included heasink from the motherboard on my main drive

Current PC
CPU: Ryzen 7 7700
GPU Radeon RX 7700XT
MOBO: Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX
RAM: Lexar Ares 6000 CL30
SSD: WD SN580
CPU Cooler: Deepcool AK400
Case: Montech Sky Two
PSU: Corsair RMe 750w

Depends on the drive you're looking to get, have a look at the manual on the product description. For some their own little shroud is enough. Others could use a coldplate from the motherboard. Some straight up need their own tower or fan.

Unless you are really doing raw drive I/O all the time, you shouldn't really need a heatsink, or at least for SSDs like the Crucial p3 plus PCIe Gen 4.

Microsoft owns my soul.

Also, Dell is evil, but HP kinda nice.

airflow is good in my case and I never have temps higher than 70 degrees and mostly between 50 and 60 (montech sky two)
