Getting a new laptop, there is currently a promo in my area, the laptops are

MSI Bravo 17 C7V

  • Ryzen 5 7535HS /
  • RTX4050 GDDR6 6GB
  • 8GB - DDR5
  • 512GB SSD

MSI Thin 15 B12VE

  • i5-12450H
  • RTX 4050 GDDR6 6GB
  • DDR4 8GB (8GB*1) + 8GB DDR4 (Bought separately)
  • 512GB SSD

Which do you think is better of the two setups? the Thin is very compelling because of the 16GB RAM, is it worth the generation downgrade? Also looks like the intel i5 seems to be the better processor (based on some cpu compare sites)

Are there other nuanced specs that i should consider?

I would say 16GB is the bare minimum of memory required in 2024, 8GB is simply not worth it regardless of other specs. If you can upgrade to at least another 8GB of DDR5 on the AMD unit then that would change my opinion.
