RAM, motherboard, cpu. Vagueness of your question makes me wonder why you are even attempting to do this or how much you know about computers.

Did you ever build your machine back in April?  Or are you now thinking about just upgrading your current machine instead of building an entire new one?

I don’t know much about computers but I won a 4080super at a raffle and I have a 5800x in my pc right now so I would like something that ain’t bottlenecking it.

I built it but I still have my old one that I was going to give my brother and I wanted to upgrade it.

just put the 4080 with your 5800X, it's fine

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

But how much better would it be with a 7800x3d or one of the new 9000 series when they come out

7800X3D still beats the non-X3D 9000 for gaming.

Not enough of an upgrade unless you enjoy wasting money.

Then again, if you love your brother you'd upgrade to the 7800X3D.

Depends

At 1440p and above not much on the majority of AAA games, except very CPU intensive unoptimized games like Starfield or DD2 😛

But at 1080p, competitive low settings games it can really be better

System : AMD R9  7950X3D CPU/ Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E board/ 2x32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo 6000CL30 RAM ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 cooler (with 2xArctic P12 Max fans) /  2TB WD SN850 NVme + 2TB Crucial T500  NVme  + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD / Corsair RM850x PSU

Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / ASUS ROG AZOTH keyboard (wireless) / Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

I can;t give an exact number, it really depends on the game and resolution and framerate and all that. But what I can say for sure is that the 5800X is far from obsolete, it's still a really fast CPU.

Whatever graphics card you have now, you will definitely get a performance upgrade going to the 4080 super.

I can tell you that 5900x with 4090 is far from fine especially if you want more than '60fps'.....

I am personally waiting for 9000x3D and I would recommend you do same thing.

R9 5900X, Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240, Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE V2, 2x16GB Kingston FuryX 3800MHZ CL18 Hynix DJR "Tuned" , Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC, Windows 11

are you assuming you have the same use case as OP? Also keep in mind that the 5800X is a one-CCD design, while the 5900X has 6 cores across two CCDs, so the 5800X is better in a lot of gaming situations.
