Small steo upgrades like that are a sure way to waste money and perpetually stay behind.  You'd pay a lot of money that could go toward a really viable upgrade.

Sell the 3060, then add whatever you need to to get a 7900gre or 4070 super.

Nothing between your card and those makes any financial sense.

Hi, I currently have a 3060 and am thinking about an upgrade around £250 and so far I've landed on the 3070.

I haven't had any experience with AMD GPUs but I'm not brand loyal and if it'll allow better performance for my budget then I'm open to switching.

At the moment I have a 2k 165Hz monitor as my main monitor for gaming and a second monitor for discord/YouTube.

If any more information is needed that I haven't thought of please ask.

any and all input is welcome!

CPU: R7 5800x

GPU: 3060 12gb

Edit: I'm definitely going second hand for the price savings

What games are you playing, what performance do you get? Why do you feel the need to upgrade?

Unless you're severely unhappy with the performance you get, I'd rather wait for 50-series at least (and yes that is likely 6+ months away)

Going from a 3060 to a 3070 is a small upgrade and you're also downgrading vram capacity so it's not a great idea. I'd wait until next gen so you can upgrade with a next gen card or price cut current gen card.

I recommend waiting at least 2 generations between upgrades, otherwise the performance uplift and value probably won't be great.

A brand new RTX 3060 costs over £250 right now...

Unless you mean to add £250 to what you can get from selling the 3060

We will need an estimate of the total budget for the new card.

How much you can get for your 3060 depends entirely on the used market in your area/country and the effort you put into securing a better deal. Asking about it here will likely have no impact on the result
