convice my dad why I should buy a 240hz monitor...

I just upgraded my computer and I'm able to run any game I play on at least 400fps. I currently have a 144hz monitor and a 60hz secondary monitor. What reason is there to purchase a 240hz vs the 144hz monitor I currently have. I play competitive FPS games and not Triple-A games.

There is none. If you can convince your dad that you notice the 2.78ms of response difference (at best) then you can probably convince him to do anything and at that point you dont need this thread. Use what you have, it seems they already provide you with a lot.

Then why do professional gamers play on like 360hz

Because they get money in exchange to sponsor products and use them in tournaments?

It's a gimmick really.

Caroline doesn't need to hear all this, she's a highly trained professional.

Because they get paid to do so with the intention of making regular people (yourself) think its going to make them a better player. Therefore, leading to new sales.

Its a great tactic and very clearly works or we wouldn't have this thread.

Seeing people say no difference with 240Hz+ is cringe to say the least. But not sure about convincing, can sell current ones, maybe show or tell him it's smoother in motion, maybe let him drag some opened program window around.

Are you a professional gamer? Do you aspire to be a professional gamer?

Just because you play video games that are in the competitive scene it does not make you a competitive gamer. If you're an unremarkable player with a 144Hz screen, then upgrading to 240Hz/360Hz is a waste of your dad's money. You do whatever you want if it's your money.
