Arc is better than Optical, both are good though.

Arc allows you to use the TV remote for volume control

Optical can't carry full uncompressed surround and there can be setup headaches with trying to output 5.1.

HDMI is painless and also more convenient as long as television and soundbar both have HDMI ARC.

I have recently got a new tv. That has both hdmi earc and optical audio too. So I was wondering if I can get some info about which audio output type is better overall quality audio, the richest audio, i am a tech person but i am not in anyway a audio person just hardware for pc's and if anyway could point me to a good max budget soundbar with or without a subwoofer to get for sports and movie content.

"Max budget"? What is your budget?

These two are some of the best.
